Dr. Arya Nielsen is a practitioner, a teacher, author and researcher, and is considered the Western clinical authority on Gua sha.  Past chair of the New York State Board for Acupuncture, she has been practicing for over 36 years and lectures on Classical Chinese and Integrative Medicine throughout the US and Europe. She is on Faculty at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, where she see patients and directs the Acupuncture Fellowship for Inpatient Care. Dr. Nielsen is the author of Gua Sha, A Traditional Technique for Modern Practice, (1995 revised 2012); and Gua Sha: Step-by-Step-a teaching video/DVD. She developed and teaches the Gua sha Certification Course www.guasha.com
